Happy New Year! The air of change is apparent and we hope it is positive for everyone.
The WOF held its annual meeting late 2008 and welcomed new board member Chuck Schmidt of Colorado as an invaluable member of our organization. He will help us structure more fundraising contacts and activities to help us reach all of our previously set goals. Dr. Markus Telkamp was also on hand and provided sound insight on methods to achieve those goals as well.
With the recent developments in the financial world and the administration change, we understand the difficulties that arise when charitable organizations seek funding for their activities and programs. We do believe, however, that even in times that appear as difficult as they are, there are ways to achieve our goals and still benefit all involved.
It is our good fortune to have friends like all the good people at the MS Natural Science Museum, MS Wildlife Federation, Jackson Zoological park, and all of the rehabilitators, veterinarians, and volunteers who help us as we achieve our goals, short-term and long.
We save this bit of sad news till last. We lost our Great Horned Owl, Hagrid, on June 18, 2008 to apparent birth defects that we were unaware of until after laboratory reports confirmed it. He was just getting startedas a marvelous ambassador and we will forever miss him.
